Lintan county (historically known as Taozhou) in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu, is a multi-ethnic county with Han Chinese, Tibetan, and Hui Muslim communities. The Lintan Ancient City Wall from the Ming dynasty is one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in Gansu. The Tao River (Taohe), a major tributary of the Yellow River, flows through the county. The county is transitional between Han and Tibetan cultural zones.
