Taiping East Mosque (Lintan)

临潭县太平清真东寺
📍 Lintan · Lintan County

📜 About & history

Taiping East Mosque stands in the centre of Taipingzhai Village, Yangyong Township, against the south side of the old town wall and next to the Xidaotang West Mosque. It covers 1.1 mu and serves more than 90 households (over 450 people). Burned in local unrest in 1929, it was rebuilt as a temporary prayer hall south of the wall in 1934, remodelled in 1955 and pulled down again in 1966. In 1988 Gou Wenxue and others raised over 60,000 yuan to rebuild the hall, whose lintel bears inscriptions praising the light of faith. Carved brick floral decoration and a palace-style gate survive.
