Taiping Upper Mosque (Lintan)

临潭县太平清真上寺
📍 Lintan · Lintan County 🏛️ 1380

📜 About & history

Taiping Upper Mosque is in Taiping Village, Yangyong Township, Lintan County, Gansu, and is open all year. It dates back to 1380 (13th year of the Ming Hongwu era). Because floodwater from two streams threatened its foundations, it was moved and rebuilt in 1987 under Zhang Jiangong, Ye Wenjun and Ding Shaowen; as the new site is on high ground north of the village's two other mosques, it was renamed the Upper Mosque. The new brick-and-timber prayer hall, which cost 40,000 yuan, stands on a 10 m by 10 m base in the compact "seal" form, with a plaque reading "Islam and Peace" and Islamic couplets over the main door.
