📜 About & history

Ximen Mosque (formerly Beizhuang Grand Mosque) is in Ximen Village, Xincheng Township, Lintan County, Gansu. Founded in 1379 in the Ming Hongwu era by the Hui commander Min Dagang and others, it is a Chinese palace-style building with Islamic features; its four-cornered prayer hall bears brick carvings and a plaque reading "Kai Tian Gu Jiao". It has more than 300 worshippers of the old Qadim tradition. Burned in 1914 during the Bai Lang incident, it was rebuilt with an eight-cornered hall; destroyed again in 1929, it was replaced by simple buildings in 1934, requisitioned in 1958 and demolished in the Cultural Revolution. The present mosque was rebuilt with public donations in 1988.
