📖 About the university

Tangshan Polytechnic University is a full-time public vocational-bachelor's university sponsored by the Tangshan municipal government and located in the Caofeidian coastal-development zone of Tangshan, Hebei. The institution was founded in 1975 and traces its roots to the Tangshan senior technical school and a ceramics branch of Tangshan Workers' University, which merged and were upgraded in 2001 to Tangshan Industrial Vocational and Technical College, before the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Tangshan Polytechnic University in May 2024. The university offers around twenty-one undergraduate programmes spanning high-speed rail EMU technology, mechanical design and automation, mechatronics, Internet of Things engineering, applied chemical technology, arts and crafts, robotics, network engineering, big-data accounting, preschool education and intelligent construction. It is organised into schools covering rail transit, mechanical and electrical engineering, chemical engineering, information engineering, architectural engineering, arts and design, economics and management, health and nursing, and preschool education. A national demonstrative higher-vocational college and a member of China's high-level vocational-college construction plan, it occupies a new municipally funded campus of roughly 1,644 mu in Caofeidian, a national economic and technological development area within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development region. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently offer a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
