Wuhan

Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and the largest city in central China, formed from three historic towns where the Yangtze and Han rivers meet. With a metropolitan population of around 13 million, it is a major hub for transport, industry, and higher education, home to a dense concentration of universities. The climate is humid subtropical and known for very hot, humid summers that earn it a reputation as one of China's furnaces, along with cold, damp winters. Landmarks include the historic Yellow Crane Tower, the vast East Lake, the pioneering Yangtze River Bridge, and the snack-lined Hubu Alley. Local food is famous for hot dry noodles, Wuchang fish, and spicy duck neck. An expanding metro network, Tianhe International Airport, and a central high-speed rail position make it one of the country's best-connected cities.
