📖 About the university

Chongqing Industry Polytechnic University is a full-time public vocational-technology university located in Chongqing. Its predecessor, the Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing School, was founded in 1956 by the former Second Ministry of Machine Building, and in 2000 it merged with the Chongqing Machinery Staff University and was upgraded to Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College. In 2006 it became one of the first twenty-eight national demonstrative higher-vocational colleges, and in June 2025 it was approved by the Ministry of Education and elevated to the undergraduate Chongqing Industry Polytechnic University. The university is organised into schools including Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Electronics and Internet of Things Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Architectural Engineering, Design, Rail Transit and Aviation Services, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Engineering, and Economics and Management. Occupying around 1,288 mu and serving more than seventeen thousand full-time students, it is one of southwestern China's leading applied vocational institutions, historically strong in mechanical manufacturing, automotive engineering and intelligent manufacturing. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
