📖 About the university

Kunming City College is a private undergraduate institution in Kunming, the spring-like capital of Yunnan province. It was established in 2000 as the Business School of Yunnan Normal University, a private independent college attached to the province's main teacher-training university, and for two decades it operated as one of the larger independent colleges in southwest China, teaching business, management, accounting, economics, languages, education and design to students drawn mostly from Yunnan and neighbouring provinces. In 2021 it was approved to convert into a free-standing private institution and took the name Kunming City College; it is owned and managed by the Kunming Boxin technology development company. The double inheritance still shapes the school: from the business-school years comes a broad commerce portfolio — accounting, financial management, marketing, e-commerce and logistics — while the normal-university lineage survives in teacher-education and early-childhood programmes that supply schools and kindergartens across the province. As a city college in the provincial capital it also runs arts, design and media tracks tied to Kunming's service economy. Teaching is in Chinese and the intake is domestic.

🌆 About Kunming

Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province and is famously nicknamed the Spring City for its exceptionally mild, temperate climate. With a metropolitan population of around eight million, it sits on a high plateau beside Dianchi Lake and serves as China's gateway to Southeast Asia. Thanks to its elevation, it enjoys spring-like weather all year, with warm days, cool nights, and neither harsh summers nor cold winters. Attractions include the vast Dianchi Lake, the tranquil Green Lake Park, the surrounding Western Hills, and the extraordinary karst Stone Forest a short trip away. Yunnan cuisine is distinctive and diverse, best known for crossing-the-bridge rice noodles, steam-pot chicken, and a huge variety of wild mushrooms. A modern metro network, Changshui International Airport, and high-speed rail connect it to Guiyang, Chengdu, and beyond. For an international student, Kunming offers a uniquely pleasant climate, ethnic and cultural diversity, affordable living, and a relaxed pace of life.
