📖 About the university

Railway Police College is a public security university in Zhengzhou, Henan province, jointly built by China's Ministry of Public Security and the China State Railway Group, and it is the country's only institution of higher learning dedicated to training police officers who secure the national railway network. Its history began in 1950 with a railway police training class in Beijing, which merged with the Northeast Railway Police School in 1953 and was renamed the Railway Public Security Cadre School; the school subsequently relocated several times, through Shenyang, Shanghai, Xi'an, and Tangshan, before settling permanently in Zhengzhou in January 1980. It was transferred from the former Ministry of Railways to the Ministry of Public Security in 2000, and the Ministry of Education approved it in 2013 to offer full-time undergraduate education under its present name. The college offers four undergraduate majors — Science of Investigation, Public Security Science, Police Management Science, and Forensic Science — along with specialised directions in law enforcement, police secretarial work, and network security and law enforcement. It enrols around 4,000 students, taught by roughly 290 full-time faculty among nearly 400 staff, and its graduates go on to serve in railway public security bureaus across China. As a specialised law-enforcement academy training Chinese railway police officers, Railway Police College does not offer a general international admissions programme.
