Chifeng University is a public multidisciplinary undergraduate institution located in Chifeng, a city in the southeastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The university traces its origins to a normal school founded in 1957, and in 2003 the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Chifeng Normal College of Nationalities with several other local institutions to form Chifeng University as a full undergraduate institution. Covering more than 1,100 mu, the university offers a broad range of undergraduate programs and includes schools of medicine, history and culture, Mongolian studies, mathematics and statistics, and fine arts. Set in the heartland of the Neolithic Hongshan culture, the university is distinctive for its research on Hongshan archaeology and Mongolian ethnic culture, and it also maintains notable clinical medicine and teacher-education programs. Serving the ethnically diverse grasslands of eastern Inner Mongolia, the university admits international students and provides Chinese-language study for learners in China.
