📖 About the university

Southwest Petroleum University in Chengdu is one of China's two flagship petroleum universities, founded in 1958 to serve the oil and gas fields of the southwest. It is a Double First-Class discipline university with national leadership in petroleum and natural-gas engineering, oil-and-gas well engineering and reservoir geology. The university is jointly built by Sichuan Province, the Ministry of Education and the major national oil companies, and works closely with the shale-gas and energy industries of the Sichuan Basin. It operates campuses in Chengdu and Nanchong and enrolls tens of thousands of students across engineering, science, economics and management. International students are welcomed into English-taught petroleum-engineering and Chinese-language programs.
