Liaoning Police College traces its roots to Liaoxi Industrial University, founded in 1960, which was reorganized as Liaoning Provincial Public Security School in 1978, then as the Liaoning People's Police School in 1980, before being upgraded to Liaoning Police Officer College in 1985 and Liaoning Police Vocational College in 1993; in 1995 it gained approval to independently pilot bachelor's-level programs in investigation and forensic examination, and it was finally upgraded to full undergraduate college status as Liaoning Police College in 2014. Sponsored by the Liaoning provincial government, it is the only provincial-level public-security undergraduate institution in Liaoning, based in the Ganjingzi district of the coastal city of Dalian, with a main campus of about 590,000 square metres and a branch campus in Anshan covering roughly 78,000 square metres. The college offers around a dozen undergraduate majors, including Investigation, Forensic Science, Public Order, Cybersecurity and Law Enforcement, Traffic Management Engineering, Economic Crime Investigation, Police Command and Tactics, Public Security Audio-Visual Technology, Criminology and Prison Studies. Its long institutional lineage, stretching back more than six decades through several waves of reorganization, reflects the broader historical evolution of China's provincial police education system. Liaoning Police College continues to train the majority of new police officers entering service across the province.
