🌆 About Xi'an
Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi province and one of China's four great ancient capitals, having served as the imperial seat for dynasties including the Qin, Han and Tang, and it is world-famous as the home of the Terracotta Army and the eastern terminus of the ancient Silk Road. The city has a temperate continental climate with hot summers and cold, dry winters, and a well-defined ancient city wall encloses its historic core, alongside landmarks such as the Bell and Drum Towers and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Xi'an is one of China's foremost centres of higher education and research, hosting dozens of universities and a concentration of aerospace, defence and semiconductor industries, and it has long been a major destination for students studying Chinese history, archaeology and language. Its cuisine, especially Muslim Quarter street food such as roujiamo and biangbiang noodles, its blend of Han and Hui Islamic culture, and its many museums make it a rich cultural environment for students. Xi'an is well connected by high-speed rail and an international airport, linking it easily to Beijing, Shanghai and other major Chinese cities.
