📖 About the university

BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC) is a joint-venture university in Zhuhai, Guangdong, founded in 2005 by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University, making it the first full-scale cooperative liberal-arts college established between the mainland and Hong Kong. It was created to bring Hong Kong Baptist University's whole-person, English-medium liberal-arts model to the mainland, and today occupies a purpose-built campus in Zhuhai's Tangjiawan higher-education district. Instruction is conducted almost entirely in English, and the college is organised into four academic divisions, Business and Management, Culture and Creativity, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology, plus a Graduate School, offering more than twenty undergraduate programmes. UIC follows a distinctive four-year model combining major studies, whole-person education, and general-education requirements, and its graduates receive degrees recognised by both parent universities, with a large share continuing to postgraduate study abroad. Its bilingual, internationally oriented environment and small class sizes make it unusual among mainland institutions and attractive to students seeking a Western-style liberal-arts experience within China. UIC is well suited to students who want an English-medium, globally connected undergraduate education while remaining in the fast-developing Greater Bay Area.

🌆 About Zhuhai

Zhuhai is a coastal special economic zone in Guangdong facing Macau across a short border, consistently ranked among China's most livable cities. Set on the western bank of the Pearl River estuary, it is greener and less crowded than its neighbours, with a long seaside promenade and dozens of offshore islands. The record-breaking Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the world's longest sea crossing, lands here and ties the western delta to Hong Kong. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters, and the city hosts the biennial China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) and the giant Chimelong Ocean Kingdom theme park. Several university campuses, a clean environment, and lower living costs than nearby Hong Kong and Macau make it a popular base for international students. Fast ferries, an intercity rail line, and Zhuhai Jinwan Airport connect it to the wider Greater Bay Area.
