Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology in Maoming, founded in 1954, is the only university in southern China specialised in the petrochemical industry. Its strengths lie in chemical engineering, petroleum processing, materials, mechanical and environmental engineering, closely tied to the huge petrochemical base of Maoming.
