The Central Institute for Correctional Police is the only higher-education institution in China directly affiliated with the Ministry of Justice, tracing its lineage to a central political-and-legal cadre training school established in the late 1950s that, after several mergers and reorganizations of judicial-system training institutions, was formally reconstituted under its current name in 1999.
