📖 About the university
The Central Institute for Correctional Police is the only higher-education institution in China directly affiliated with the Ministry of Justice, tracing its lineage to a central political-and-legal cadre training school established in the late 1950s that, after several mergers and reorganizations of judicial-system training institutions, was formally reconstituted under its current name in 1999. It is located in Baoding, a historic city in central Hebei province south of Beijing, giving it easy access to the capital while maintaining a lower-cost campus setting. The institute offers bachelor's degree programs concentrated on the needs of China's judicial-administration and corrections system, including law, prison and correctional management, community corrections, criminal investigation technology, psychology, and administrative management, alongside applied technical fields supporting the justice system. Its core mission is to train specialized cadres and technical personnel for China's prisons, community-correction agencies and broader judicial-administration apparatus, making it a distinctive institution focused on an area of public administration that few other Chinese universities address directly. As the sole national-level institution of its kind, the Central Institute for Correctional Police occupies a unique position bridging higher education, law and the practical administration of China's correctional system.

🌆 About Baoding
Baoding is a historic city in central Hebei province, south of Beijing, that served for centuries as a provincial capital and military-administrative centre guarding the approaches to the imperial capital, and it preserves notable heritage sites such as the Zhili Governor-General's Yamen and the classical Lianchi Garden. It has a temperate continental monsoon climate with hot summers and cold, dry winters typical of the North China Plain, and its old city core contrasts with newer development linked to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan region. Baoding has long been known as a centre of higher education and vocational training in Hebei, hosting numerous universities and colleges, and it has more recently developed an automotive and new-energy vehicle manufacturing base as part of regional industrial integration. The city is known for its Zhili cuisine and its donkey-meat sandwiches, and it lies close to natural and cultural attractions such as Mount Langya and the historic sites of its Qing-era governance role. Its proximity to Beijing, with direct rail links of under an hour, makes it a convenient and lower-cost alternative for students studying in the capital region.
