📖 About the university

Lijiang Culture and Tourism College is a private undergraduate institution on Yuquan Road in Gucheng district of Lijiang, the celebrated old-town city of northwestern Yunnan, and it is the first undergraduate institution ever established in Lijiang. On 4 November 2001 the Lijiang prefectural administration, Yunnan University and the Yunnan Dabo culture investment company signed an agreement to jointly create the Tourism and Culture College of Yunnan University, which opened the following year; in 2004 the Ministry of Education formally designated it an independent college of Yunnan University. In February 2021 the ministry approved its conversion into a free-standing private college under the present name, supervised by the Yunnan provincial government and run by the Dabo company. The college's stated mission is rooted in the economic and social development of Lijiang and the surrounding prefectures, so its programmes are deliberately applied — tourism and hospitality management above all, in a city whose economy is built on the UNESCO-listed old town and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, together with culture, media, languages, economics and management tracks that feed the regional service industry. Students study minutes away from one of China's most visited heritage sites. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
