Yili Normal University is a public university in Yining (Ghulja), in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of northwestern Xinjiang, with roots dating to 1948 and full university status granted in 2018. It is the principal teacher-training institution of the Ili region, preparing schoolteachers for its multiethnic communities. Its programs span education, Chinese language and literature, sciences and foreign languages. The university serves education and development in the fertile Ili River valley near the Kazakhstan border.
