📖 About the university

Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, founded in 1957, is the only independent higher music institution in south China and is named after the celebrated composer Xian Xinghai. It provides a complete conservatory education in performance, composition, conducting, musicology and both Western and Chinese traditional music, and is particularly strong in Cantonese and Lingnan regional music. Its graduates lead much of the professional music scene of Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area. With campuses in Guangzhou, it enjoys close ties to the region's orchestras, opera and pop-music industries. Xinghai is a welcoming base for international students studying music in vibrant southern China.
