📖 About the university

Changchun Vocational and Technical University is a full-time public comprehensive vocational-bachelor's university sponsored by the Changchun municipal government and located in Changchun, the capital of Jilin. Its teaching history reaches back to the Changchun Commercial School founded in 1952, it merged with other schools to form the Changchun Advanced Vocational and Technical School in 2000, was upgraded to Changchun Vocational Institute in 2002, and in 2025 the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Changchun Vocational and Technical University on that basis. The university operates the Weixing, Longjia and Shiji campuses across around 1,035 mu, with more than eleven thousand full-time students, and it offers around ten vocational-bachelor's programmes and fifty college-level programmes spanning eleven broad subject areas. It is organised into schools including Automotive, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Information, Commerce and Trade, Tourism, Food and Bioscience, Modern Agriculture, and International Exchange. Reflecting Changchun's role as the birthplace of China's automobile industry and home to the FAW group, it is particularly strong in automotive and mechatronic technology. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
