📖 About the university

The China Conservatory of Music, founded in 1964 on the initiative of Premier Zhou Enlai, is China's leading institution devoted to Chinese national and traditional music. Unlike conservatories built on the Western model, its mission is to preserve, teach and develop China's own musical heritage, from traditional instruments and folk singing to Chinese musicology and composition. It has trained many of the country's most celebrated performers of Chinese classical and folk music. Located in Chaoyang, Beijing, it is a national 'Double First-Class' university for music. The conservatory offers international students a rare opportunity to study authentic Chinese music at the highest level.
