📖 About the university

Anhui Second Medical College traces its history to the Hefei Health School, founded in 1955, which later developed into the Anhui Medical College, a higher-vocational health-sciences institution. In June 2025 the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of a bachelor's-level Anhui Second Medical College on the basis of the former college, with its predecessor's registration formally revoked, and the new institution admitted its first bachelor's cohort across four programmes: nursing, elder-care service management, medical laboratory technology and pharmacy. The college occupies three campuses in Hefei, the capital of Anhui province, at Xinqiao, Furong Road and Wuhu Road, together covering roughly 1,183 mu (about 79 hectares) with more than 400,000 square metres of floor space. It is organised into twelve colleges, including the College of Clinical Medicine (General Practice), the College of Stomatology, the College of Medical Technology, the College of Nursing, the College of Public Health and Health Management, the College of Pharmacy and the College of Basic Medicine, alongside Marxism, innovation-and-entrepreneurship and international-education units. Its nursing programme cluster has been recognised as a national 'double high-level' vocational programme, one of only five such nursing clusters nationwide, underscoring the institution's particular strength in nursing and allied-health training. As a newly designated undergraduate medical institution rather than a long-established research university, it is not part of the Project 985/211 or Double First-Class tiers, and its focus remains firmly on applied clinical and nursing education for Anhui province's health system. The college currently enrols mainly domestic students, and formal international-admissions channels have not yet been established.
