📖 About the university
Lanzhou Technology and Business College is a private undergraduate institution in the Heping area on the eastern outskirts of Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu. It was founded in 2000 as the Longqiao College of what became Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, the principal finance-and-economics university of Gansu, and for two decades it operated as that university's independent college, teaching commerce-centred bachelor programmes to students drawn mostly from the northwest. In 2021, amid the national conversion of independent colleges, the Ministry of Education approved its transformation into a free-standing private institution under the present name. Its catalogue keeps the parent's commercial stamp: accounting, financial management, finance, auditing, business administration, marketing, e-commerce and logistics form the core, with computing, design and language programmes attached. In a province where private higher education is thin, the college provides one of the few undergraduate business-school alternatives to the public universities, and its graduates staff the banks, accounting firms and trading companies of Lanzhou and the wider Gansu corridor. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.

🌆 About Lanzhou
Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu province and a historic city on the ancient Silk Road, stretched narrowly along the banks of the Yellow River. With a metropolitan population of around four million, it is northwest China's key transport and industrial gateway toward Central Asia. The climate is cold semi-arid, with warm, dry summers and cold, dry winters and relatively little rainfall. Landmarks include the Yellow River waterfront, the iron Zhongshan Bridge, White Pagoda Mountain overlooking the city, and the traditional waterwheel park. Lanzhou is nationally famous for its hand-pulled beef noodles, and its sizeable Hui Muslim community means halal food and mosques are easy to find. A new metro line, Zhongchuan International Airport, and high-speed rail connect it toward Xi'an, Xining, and Urumqi. For an international student, and especially a Muslim one, Lanzhou offers low living costs, a welcoming halal food culture, and a strong sense of Silk Road history.
