📖 About the university

Xinjiang Agricultural University (XJAU), founded in 1952, is the leading agricultural university of the vast Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China's far northwest. It specialises in agronomy, animal science, grassland science, water conservancy and forestry suited to Xinjiang's arid oases, grasslands and irrigated farmland. The university plays a central role in developing the region's cotton, fruit, livestock and water-management sectors. Located in the regional capital Urumqi, it trains agricultural professionals for a hugely important farming and pastoral region. XJAU admits international students, notably from Central Asian countries along the Silk Road.
