📖 About the university
Qingdao Huanghai University is a large private university in the Lingshanwei area of Qingdao's West Coast New Area, set between the Zhushan national forest park and the Yellow Sea, facing the Lingshan Island scenic zone. Founded in May 1996 as a vocational training school in the Qingdao economic and technological development zone, it climbed the ladder of Chinese private education through repeated reorganisations — becoming Qingdao Huanghai Vocational College in 2003, gaining undergraduate status as Qingdao Huanghai College in May 2011 and bachelor-degree-awarding rights in 2015. Today it reports more than 33,000 students and some 1,760 staff on a campus of about 1,660 mu with 440,000 square metres of buildings and a library of over 1.5 million printed volumes. Teaching colleges span mechanical and electrical engineering, architectural engineering, international e-commerce, transportation and ship engineering, finance and economics, management, film art and education, art, preschool education and nursing and health, mixing bachelor and vocational tiers. The campus even houses its own museum and a Lei Feng memorial hall. The motto is the unity of knowledge and action. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.

🌆 About Qingdao
Qingdao is a major seaport and coastal city in Shandong province, known worldwide for its beer, beaches, and distinctive German colonial architecture. With a metropolitan population of around ten million, it wraps around the Yellow Sea coast with red-roofed old quarters and modern skylines. Its maritime climate keeps summers mild and humid and winters cold but moderate, without the harsh extremes of the interior. Landmarks include the iconic Zhanqiao Pier, the leafy old villas of Badaguan, the Tsingtao Beer Museum, and Mount Lao on the outskirts. As a coastal city it is prized for fresh seafood and its world-famous Tsingtao beer. A modern metro network, Jiaodong International Airport, and high-speed rail connect it to Jinan, Beijing, and Shanghai. For an international student, Qingdao offers sea air, an attractive setting, respected universities, and a relaxed yet cosmopolitan seaside lifestyle.
