📖 About the university

UOW College Hong Kong is a degree-granting tertiary institution in Tai Wai, New Territories, that began in 2004 as the Community College of City University, created when the Hong Kong government began phasing out public funding for sub-degree programmes and universities were encouraged to establish self-financing arms. The college partnered with Australia's University of Wollongong in November 2014, and after gaining independent accreditation from the Hong Kong government, it was formally renamed UOW College Hong Kong in July 2020, separating fully from City University of Hong Kong. In September 2023 it opened a new purpose-built campus adjacent to Tai Wai MTR station, spanning about 15,000 square metres with a 200-seat auditorium, lecture theatres, and dedicated laboratories capable of accommodating roughly 3,300 students; current enrolment stands at around 3,000. The college offers both associate degree and higher diploma pathways and full four-year bachelor's degrees, including top-up degrees awarded by the University of Wollongong, across fields such as business, information technology, media, social sciences, aviation, and tourism. Teaching is conducted predominantly in English, with some Cantonese support, giving students exposure to an Australian-linked curriculum while studying in Hong Kong. It is best suited to students seeking a flexible route into bachelor's-level study, whether through direct entry to top-up degrees or via associate degree and higher diploma programmes with strong progression rates to further study.
