📖 About the university

Shenyang Institute of Science and Technology is a private undergraduate university in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province and the largest city in northeastern China, long a centre of heavy industry and equipment manufacturing. The institution began in 1999 as the Science and Engineering College of Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology, later became the Keya College of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, and in 2016 was approved by the Ministry of Education to convert into an independent provincial private university. It is organised into around twelve teaching units and offers roughly twenty-nine undergraduate programmes, with a foundation in chemical engineering reflecting its origins alongside mechanical, information and control, environmental, and economics and management disciplines. As an application-oriented university, it emphasises engineering practice and links with the region's chemical and manufacturing industries. Its core strengths lie in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, automation and control, and environmental engineering. It suits students seeking practical engineering and technology education in a major industrial city of northeastern China.

🌆 About Shenyang

Shenyang is the capital of Liaoning province and the largest city of China's northeastern rust belt, historically the seat of the early Qing dynasty. With a metropolitan population of around nine million, it is a major heavy-industry and transport center known for its imperial and revolutionary history. The climate is cold temperate, with warm summers and long, cold, dry winters. Its foremost landmark is the Shenyang Imperial Palace, a smaller counterpart to Beijing's Forbidden City, alongside the Zhaoling tomb in Beiling Park and Marshal Zhang's Mansion. Northeastern cuisine features hearty dishes like Laobian dumplings, sweet-and-sour guobaorou, and sauerkraut-and-pork stews. A growing metro network, Taoxian International Airport, and high-speed rail connect it to Dalian, Changchun, and Beijing. For an international student, Shenyang offers low living costs, strong engineering and medical universities, and an authentic experience of industrial northern China.
