📖 About the university

Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic University is a full-time public vocational-technology university located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, and directly administered by the provincial Department of Education. Its predecessor was founded in 1965 as the Chengdu Desheng Technical School, renamed the Chengdu Aviation Industry School in 1979 and made a national key secondary school in 1980, before being approved as Chengdu Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College in 1998. It was one of China's first national demonstrative higher-vocational colleges, and in June 2025 the Ministry of Education approved its elevation to Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic University on that basis. The university is organised into around ten secondary colleges, including Civil Aviation Transportation, Aviation Equipment Manufacturing Industry, Aviation Maintenance Industry, Unmanned Aircraft Industry, Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Robotics, Architecture and Engineering, and New Materials. Reflecting Chengdu's role as a major centre of China's aerospace and aviation industry, it is one of the country's leading vocational institutions for aircraft manufacturing, maintenance and civil-aviation services. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently offer a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
