📖 About the university
Wuhan University of Engineering Science is a private engineering-oriented undergraduate university in the Jiangxia district of Wuhan, the sprawling capital of Hubei Province and a major hub of universities in central China. Founded in February 2004 as Jiangcheng College of China University of Geosciences, it was approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2014 to convert into an independent private undergraduate institution under its present name, and became one of Hubei's first pilot universities for applied-technology talent training that year. The university offers around thirty-three undergraduate programmes across engineering, education, art, management, science and economics, retaining distinctive features in geology, gemmology and aviation inherited from its geosciences origins. A notable programme is product design with a specialisation in jewellery and gemstone design, alongside mechanical engineering and civil engineering. Its core strengths lie in gemmology and jewellery design, geology-related engineering, mechanical and civil engineering, and product design. It suits students seeking an engineering-focused private university with unusual specialisms in a large university city.

🌆 About Wuhan
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and the largest city in central China, formed from three historic towns where the Yangtze and Han rivers meet. With a metropolitan population of around 13 million, it is a major hub for transport, industry, and higher education, home to a dense concentration of universities. The climate is humid subtropical and known for very hot, humid summers that earn it a reputation as one of China's furnaces, along with cold, damp winters. Landmarks include the historic Yellow Crane Tower, the vast East Lake, the pioneering Yangtze River Bridge, and the snack-lined Hubu Alley. Local food is famous for hot dry noodles, Wuchang fish, and spicy duck neck. An expanding metro network, Tianhe International Airport, and a central high-speed rail position make it one of the country's best-connected cities. For an international student, Wuhan offers a huge student population, strong universities, affordable living, and a lively, youthful energy.
