📖 About the university
The Macau Institute of Management (MIM) is a private, professionally oriented higher education institution founded in 1988 under the Macau Management Association, originally created to provide management training for the territory's growing workforce. In July 2000 the Macau SAR government formally approved MIM as a higher education institution, authorising it to award its own degrees alongside professional diplomas and associate degrees. The institute occupies a compact campus in Macau and focuses specifically on business and management education for working adults, combining part-time and full-time study options suited to professionals balancing study with employment. Its programmes range from professional diplomas and associate degrees through to a Bachelor of Business Administration, and it also offers a Master of Business Administration organised in partnership with Chaminade University of Honolulu in the United States. MIM has built a particular reputation in facility management, a field in which its business administration curriculum is considered a regional leader, alongside broader coverage of management, finance, and marketing. Teaching combines Chinese and English, and the institute is best suited to Macau residents and working professionals seeking applied management education rather than a traditional full-time undergraduate research-university experience.

🌆 About Macau
Macau is a Special Administrative Region on the western side of the Pearl River estuary, a former Portuguese enclave that returned to China in 1999 and is today the only place in the country where casino gaming is legal. Compact and densely populated, it is famous for a UNESCO-listed historic centre where baroque churches, cobbled squares, and Chinese temples stand side by side, most iconically the Ruins of St. Paul's. The territory has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters, and Cantonese, Portuguese, and increasingly English and Mandarin are all in use. Its economy, built on tourism and the integrated resorts of the Cotai Strip, gives it one of the highest per-capita incomes in the world and funds generous public services and student scholarships. Macau is linked to Hong Kong and Zhuhai by the record-breaking Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and has its own international airport on Taipa island. For an international student, Macau offers a uniquely East-meets-West Sino-Portuguese culture, small class sizes, strong tourism and hospitality programmes, and a safe, walkable environment.
