Changji University is a public undergraduate institution in Changji, near Urumqi in the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. Founded in 1959 as Changji Normal School, it was upgraded to Changji Normal College in 1985 and became an undergraduate university in the 2000s. The university has a strong teacher-education tradition and offers programs across education, humanities, science, engineering, economics, and the arts. It plays an important role in training teachers and applied professionals for northern Xinjiang.
