Zhangjiajie University (张家界学院), upgraded to a four-year undergraduate institution in 2007, is the only public comprehensive university in the Zhangjiajie municipality. Nestled at the edge of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, the university draws on its unique surroundings to build strengths in tourism management, ethnic minority culture, arts, and ecology.
