Pingyao has no metro. The station is roughly 2 km from the walls of Pingyao's UNESCO-listed Ancient City; a taxi, pedicab, or short local bus ride covers the distance.

Opened in 1934 on the southern Tongpu railway; a third-class station under China Railway Taiyuan Group. As of June 2025 it handled 11 passenger trains daily, with destinations including Beijing West, Beijing Fengtai, Linfen, Yuncheng, Shenzhen East, Changsha, Hancheng, Datong, and Qinhuangdao. The main gateway for reaching Pingyao's Ancient City.
