Zhuhai Railway Station (Gongbei)

Macau itself has no railway station and no rail line enters its territory; there is no direct rail connection into Macau. The practical rail gateway is Zhuhai Railway Station (locally known as Gongbei Station) on the mainland Chinese side, situated right next to the Gongbei/Qingmao border checkpoint; travellers walk across the border crossing into Macau within minutes. Neither Macau nor Zhuhai has a metro.

Zhuhai Railway Station opened on 31 December 2012 as a stop on both the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway and the Zhuhai–Zhuhai Airport intercity railway. It sits in the Gongbei area of Xiangzhou District, directly beside both the Gongbei and Qingmao border checkpoints — hence its common local name, 'Gongbei Station'. This is the closest and most useful rail connection point for travellers heading to or from Macau via mainland China; for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge route a separate bus/coach terminal serves the artificial-island port, but the railway itself terminates at Zhuhai and does not run into Macau.
