Construction began in 2005; the station suspended service for West Ring line upgrades on 25 February 2014, then reopened on 31 December 2015 as part of the new Hainan Ring Island high-speed railway, with a 5,000 sqm building. As of 2018 it was the busiest intermediate station on the line's western section.
