Opened in 1899 as a junction on the old Peking–Mukden line, Goubangzi Station is one of the oldest continuously operating stations in Liaoning; today it sits at the meeting point of the Shenshan and Gouhai lines and handles both passenger and freight traffic. Its station square is famous nationwide for 'Goubangzi smoked chicken,' rated one of China's 'four great braised chickens.'
