📜 About & history
This mausoleum honours Yusuf Khass Hajib Balasaghuni, the 11th-century Karakhanid poet and statesman who wrote the Kutadgu Bilig (Wisdom of Royal Glory), the first major work of Turkic literature. He died in Kashgar in 1085. Yaqub Beg erected a mausoleum in 1865; it was destroyed in 1972 and later restored to its original site, with a small mosque/prayer hall in the walled tomb garden.

Central Kashgar city buses run near the old town; the tomb is a short taxi ride from Id Kah Square.
Traders congregate at the Kashgar Grand Bazaar and Id Kah area; the mausoleum is a short drive from both.
Within Kashgar city, close to the old town; 5-10 minutes by taxi from Id Kah Square.
