📜 About & history
Nanguan Mosque traces its origins to the late Ming dynasty, when it stood outside Yinchuan's south gate as a small structure. In 1916 it was moved inside the south gate and rebuilt on a larger scale, but it was destroyed during the upheaval of the 1960s. In 1981 the local Muslim community raised funds to rebuild it at its present location, to a design by Hui architect Yao Fuxing, a Tsinghua University graduate. The two-storey building is crowned by five green domes, the central and largest symbolizing the Prophet Muhammad and the four others four renowned imams; it is Yinchuan's most famous mosque and a city landmark.

Five daily prayers are observed, with the main congregational Jumu'ah prayer on Friday at midday. Times shift with the season; confirm locally on arrival.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Reachable by city bus and taxi in the old city near the Jade Emperor Pavilion (Yuhuangge); ask for 'Nanguan Qingzhen Dasi'.
From Yinchuan Hedong International Airport it is roughly 25-30 km (about 30-40 minutes by taxi) into the old city.
In the heart of the old city (Xingqing District); about 5-10 minutes by taxi from Gulou/Drum Tower area.
