The Yinchuan Central Grand Mosque was built in 1931 in the old city and stands out as the only mosque in Yinchuan to have been fully preserved and protected through the Cultural Revolution. It was renovated in 2000 while retaining its traditional character. As one of the historic congregational mosques of central Yinchuan, it remains an active place of worship for the surrounding Hui community. Its survival gives it particular value as a continuously used religious site in the city.
