📜 About & history
Yankou Mosque is on Banbian Street, Yankou Town, Wusheng County, Sichuan. Founded in 1778 (43rd year of the Qing Qianlong era), it belongs to the Gedimu tradition. Originally the private house of a Hui named Zhang Chaodong, it was bought and converted by the Ma family in 1809 (14th year of the Jiaqing era). Its buildings — an archway, prayer hall, side halls and a courtyard — use a pillar-and-tie timber frame with Islamic decoration, and the prayer hall has a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof; about 167 square metres of buildings survive. It became a county-level protected site in 1983 and a municipal one in 2000, and remains a place of worship for local Hui.
