Yangjiaxiang Mosque

杨家巷清真寺
📍 Jinan · Zhangqiu District 🏛️ Ming Hongzhi era (1488-1505)

📜 About & history

Yangjiaxiang Mosque in Yangjiaxiang Village, Bucun Subdistrict, Zhangqiu District, Jinan, was founded in the Ming Hongzhi era (1488-1505). The original buildings were destroyed by a flood in 1687 (26th year of the Qing Kangxi era); they were rebuilt in Qing style but later fell into ruin, and a stele erected in 1840 records this history. In 1990 the mosque was rebuilt as a garden complex blending Chinese and Arab styles, with 1,075 square metres of buildings including a prayer hall and a moon-watching tower. A legendary "great star stone", the largest meteorite found in the Zhangqiu area, was dug up and set on the rockery.
