📜 About & history

Xizhou Mosque is a Hui place of worship in Hubeikou Township, Yunxi County, Hubei, founded in the Qianlong era of the Qing dynasty. Destroyed by bandits in the Tongzhi era, it was rebuilt in 1881 (7th year of Guangxu) on land donated by the congregant Wei Bing'e and with pooled funds, giving a 90-square-metre prayer hall and 270 square metres of buildings in all. The earth-and-timber prayer hall stands on a 2-mu site. The mosque keeps 30 Arabic and three Persian copies of the Qur'an, and has four students and 900 Hui congregants who follow the Qadim tradition.
