Xihua Chengguan Mosque

西华县城关清真寺
📍 Zhoukou · Xihua County 🏛️ Hongwu era (Ming dynasty)

📜 About & history

Xihua Chengguan Mosque, the oldest mosque in Xihua County, was founded in the Ming Hongwu era about 300 metres inside the east gate of the old city wall; it now stands at the junction of Jicheng Road and Jizitai Road and was originally called the Inner City Grand Mosque. Four steles survive, including a fragment recording its Ming founding and one of the 1745 rebuilding. In 1911 the county's first Hui primary school opened here. The present buildings, completed in 1998 on a 2,000-square-metre site, include a prayer hall, north and south lecture halls and ablution rooms in a blend of Chinese and Arab styles. The current imam is Hajji Hu Jianyong.
