📜 About & history

Xiawang Mosque in Xiawang Village, Zhoudian Subdistrict, Daiyue District, Tai'an, Shandong, faces east and covers 2,900 square metres. A Qing-dynasty historic building, it was listed by the Shandong provincial government in the fourth batch of provincial protected cultural relics on 10 October 2013. The mosque has two courtyards; its main buildings are the prayer hall with a rear niche hall and a front porch, plus north and south lecture halls, side rooms and an ablution house, with ancient cypresses in the courtyard. Damaged by earthquake and fire in the past, it was rebuilt, and in the late Qing Yang Yucheng repeatedly funded repairs. In 1914 Li Jiye and Yang Maotai founded a primary school in the mosque, today's Xiawang Primary School of Daiyue District.
