The Xiamen municipal government funded a renovation in 1982 that preserved the mosque's original wooden couplets and an antique carved wooden board, and the mosque was fully rebuilt and reopened in its present form in 2003. Today it is the main Islamic center in this historic coastal city, not far from the famous Nanputuo Temple area.
