Wugouying Mosque (Xiping)

五沟营清真寺
📍 Zhumadian · Xiping County 🏛️ Mid-Qing dynasty

📜 About & history

Wugouying Mosque is in Beijie Village, Wugouying Town, Xiping County, Henan. Founded in the mid-Qing dynasty, it was first repaired in 1911 and enlarged into a complete complex between 1920 and 1927, but was badly damaged in the Cultural Revolution. After worship resumed in 1978, Hui and Han residents jointly funded its relocation and rebuilding in 1991: the new two-storey Arab-style prayer hall has domed minarets, and the mosque now has 32 rooms. Two steles from the Qing Xuantong era and the Republican period survive.
