Weizhou Grand Mosque was built during the Ming dynasty in traditional Chinese palatial style and expanded three times under the Qing and Republican eras. An American missionary in the 1920s-1930s described it as one of the most beautiful in China; the original was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and reconstruction began in 2015.
