📜 About & history
Founded during the Qing Jiaqing era (1810s), this is the oldest surviving women's mosque (nvsi) in China. Two stone inscriptions from 1878 (Guangxu 4) preserved on site record its history. Its founder, the female ahong Yuan (of the Li household), and her successor, the female ahong Zhang (of the Wu household), are among the first documented women ahongs in Chinese Islam, and the terms 「女阿訇」 (female ahong) and 「女寺」 (women's mosque) are said to have first appeared here.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Kaifeng has no metro. City buses to Shunhe Hui District / Beixing Street area; alight near Wangjia Hutong.
Arab and Muslim traders in Kaifeng cluster around the Dongda (East Great) Mosque halal street in Shunhe Hui District; the women's mosque is a short walk north from there.
About 2 km northeast of the Drum Tower (Gulou) in the old city; 10 min by taxi, or walk from the Dongda Mosque Hui quarter.
Halal restaurants and Hui snack stalls throughout Shunhe Hui District. Women's mosque; male visitors should ask permission. Historically significant for women's Islamic education.
