The Uzbek Mosque stands in Yining City, Ili, Xinjiang, near the Shaanxi Grand Mosque. It was first built in 1879 and renovated between 1909 and 1911, after which it comprised a minaret and a prayer hall. During the Republican period its courtyard was converted into a cultural activity room; the structure is of timber and mud on a blue-brick foundation.
