Tongren Mosque

铜仁清真寺
📍 Tongren 🏛️ Rebuilt 2010

📜 About & history

Tongren Mosque is the Muslim place of worship in Tongren, successor to the old Majiawan Mosque, whose site keeps its wall, a gate board reading "Old Mosque" and two ancient cypresses. Hui have lived in Tongren since the early Ming, but worship lapsed through war. After field visits by the provincial Islamic Association from 2007, the mosque was rebuilt with government support and finished at the end of 2010, ending more than 60 years without an imam; two imams have served there since September 2012.
